Marguerite "Margo" Bistany's Obituary
Marguerite “Margo” Bistany, 84 of Methuen and formerly Hudson, NH died peacefully at the High Pointe Hospice House on August 18, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Margo was born August 24, 1936 in Alexandria, Egypt to Kamel and Nabiha Nicolas and was the sibling of Marie, Robert, Phillip, and Yvonne.
Margo graduated from Alexandria University with a degree in Education. She taught grade 1 for many years before moving to the United States in 1969. She is the widow of the late Michael Bistany, whom she married on May 17, 1975. They resided in Brockton, MA and then Hudson, NH, where Margo worked at Osco Drug for many years until she retired. Although Margo and Mike never had children of their own, Margo loved being around infants and children and always had a soft spot for dogs.
Affectionately known as Auntie Margo to family and friends, she had a vibrant personality and a smile that welcomed all. She was kind and generous and quite agreeable. She was not one to make waves and always went with the flow, happy to be included in any and all family activities. After moving from Hudson, she spent ten years living with her great-niece, Stacey Zraket and her husband Ed and their two children, Morgan and Brian of Methuen. She quickly assumed the role of the third grandmother to Morgan and Brian, who were lucky to get off the bus every day from school to an afternoon snack and a loving smile waiting for them at the kitchen table. She was also a big help to Stacey and Ed, utilizing her love for cooking by preparing home cooked meals daily for the family. Perhaps one of her favorite pastimes was playing cards. It was not uncommon to see multiple snacks on the table while playing her favorite card games with her extended Methuen family, which included the Shepherd, Bistany, Hill, and Molloy families.
Three years ago, as Margo’s physical needs increased, it became necessary for her to move into assisted living at Ashland Farm in North Andover, MA. She adjusted well to the move and became active in daily community activities. She made friends with both residents and staff and was often seen playing bingo and socializing at the bistro in between visits from the family.
Margo is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. The list of extended family and friends whose lives she has touched is too great to list. She will be sorely missed, but her kindness and generosity will live on in their hearts forever.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen.
