Margarida O. DeMorais' Obituary
Derry, NH – Margarida O. (Barcelos) DeMorais, 90 of Derry, NH, passed away on November 4, 2021 at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center in Manchester, NH. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel A. DeMorais.
Born in Faial, Azores on February 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria (Correia) Barcelos. While living in Portugal, Margarida was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, dedicated to serving those in need. She moved with her family from Faial to Methuen, Massachusetts in 1968, eventually settling in Derry, NH.
She was known for her amazing cooking and her breathtaking gardens. From her grapevines to her rose bushes, Margarida poured love into all she nurtured. Her greatest love, however, was reserved for her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margarida will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Fatima DeMorais, of Manchester, NH and Maria Lord and her husband, Kenneth, of Derry, NH; four grandchildren, Keri Campiola, of Brookline, MA, Nicholas Lord and his wife, Jennifer, of North Hampton, NH, Paul Lord and his wife, Lee, of Chelmsford, MA, and Amanda Butcher and her husband, Nathan, of Londonderry, NH; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jase, Aubrey and Bryce; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Margarida’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 9-10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Private burial will follow.
