Margaret R. McCarron's Obituary
Margaret R. (Thornton) McCarron, 77, of Haverhill passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, with her daughters by her side.
Born in Methuen, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ann Thornton. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1966 and continued her education at the Andover Institute of Business. She worked at Raytheon for 49 years until her retirement in 2016.
Margaret’s life was defined by her kindness, generosity, and deep love for those around her. Family meant everything to her. She cherished vacations, celebrations, playing board games and any time spent together with her husband and daughters. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she enjoyed cooking a big turkey dinner and hosting her family. She loved the beach and spent many summers in Salisbury and Rye making lasting memories.
Her sisters were her best friends. Together they enjoyed going out to lunch, keno, card games, exchanging special sister gifts, and trips to Foxwoods and The Brook, as well as simply spending time together.
Margaret found her greatest joy in her grandchildren. She loved babysitting them, spoiling them, taking them to the pool and the beach, and cheering them on at school activities and sporting events throughout the years. She also cherished friendships she maintained with her high school friends, found joy in yoga, water aerobics, and in spending time at the clubhouse with her neighbors.
Margaret is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Donna Melia and her husband, Jerry and Laurie James; her grandchildren, Megan Melia, Erica and Brock James; sisters, Ann Bova and husband, Michael, Christine Thornton, and Patricia Powers and husband, Robert; brother-in-law, John Berryman; sister-in-law, Patricia O’Neil and husband, Daniel.
