Margaret "Peggy" Kennedy's Obituary
Margaret ‘Peggy’ (Torla) Kennedy, 71 passed away peacefully Wednesday morning January 23, 2019 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill, after a period of declining health due to a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Peggy was born in Methuen, Massachusetts to Edward and Helen (Laisczek) Torla on November 21, 1947. A lifelong resident of Merrimack Valley she was a 1965 Graduate of Tenney High School. She was later employed at Woodcraft Supply, Finelle Cosmetics, and Holy Trinity Parish as Bookkeeper.
Peggy was a communicant at Saint Monica Parish and formerly at Holy Trinity Church in Lawrence. She enjoyed hosting traditional polish holiday celebrations at her home. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, playing computer games, doing cross word puzzles, and visiting Salisbury Beach.
She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 41 years, Gene of Methuen, and is survived by her children Robert, and his wife, Sherie, of Newton NH, John and his wife, Melissa, of Methuen MA, granddaughters Allyssa and Heather Schuettner, goddaughter Paige Dewhirst-Williams, sister-in-laws, Gail Torla and Sandra Kennedy, Aunt Laura Torla, Uncle Frank ‘Bunky’ Torla. Also survived by niece and nephew, Heather and William Torla Jr., grandnieces and cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother William ‘Bill’ Torla.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, especially her nurses Heather and Cate.
Family and friends are welcome to calling hours on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Saint Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. Memorial contributions in Peggy’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
