Margaret E. Fairburn's Obituary
Margaret E. Fairburn, age 87 of Amesbury and formerly of Lawrence passed away on December 19, 2019. Margaret was born in Lawrence on January 15, 1932 to the late Albert and Dora (Voss) Smythe. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1949. Margaret was a former communicant of St. Patrick’s Parish of Lawrence and a former member of Main Street Congregational Church of Amesbury. Margaret was a former clerk for the Lawrence Fire Department. She was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. Margaret enjoyed watercolor painting, playing golf and reading. Spending winters in Florida was something Margaret enjoyed very much. Florida would become her happy place. Margaret will be remembered as the devoted matriarch of her family.
Margaret was the beloved wife of the late William F. Fairburn with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of William Fairburn and his wife Lori, Sharon McDonald and her husband James, and David Fairburn and his wife Michele. Margaret was the loving grandmother of Laura, Stephen, Kristin, Jenna, David, Matthew, Julia, Lucas, Nicholas, and Haley. She was the cherished great-grandmother of Lilliana, Ethan, Evan, Jameson, and Adelyn. Margaret was predeceased by her daughter Virginia Fairburn, her five siblings, and her daughter-in-law Nancy Fairburn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 9:00 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery of North Andover.
