Margaret J. Akroyd's Obituary
Margaret J. Akroyd, 89 of Methuen, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen. She was the beloved wife of the late Allen H. Akroyd.
Margaret was born in Lawrence on August 15, 1933, the daughter of the late Reginald and Wilhelmina (Akerly) Sharpe. She graduated from Searles High School, class of 1951 and then from the McIntosh Business School. She moved overseas with her husband during his military deployment. She worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Robert Kellan’s office in Methuen until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, sewing, and traveling (especially taking trips to the beach in Maine). She also loved dogs.
Margaret will be deeply missed by her son, Scott Akroyd, and his wife, Michelle, of Methuen; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and 2 nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia, and her sister, Alberta.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Margaret’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
