Marcelle C. Snell's Obituary
On Thursday, December 8, 2022, Marcelle C. Snell passed away quietly in her sleep at High Point Hospice House, Haverhill, MA after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. The daughter of Rose de Lima (Michaud) Poirier and Mitchell Poirier and sister of Joseph R. Poirier, Chanel Poirier and Pauline (Poirier) Moran (who all predeceased her).
Marcy, as her relatives and friends called her, grew up in Lawrence Massachusetts and went to St. Anne’s grammar and high schools. She married the love of her life Calvin Snell in 1956 and in 1964, they moved with their two children, to Methuen Massachusetts where they spent the next 64 years raising their children and enjoying their grandchildren.
Marcy was a homemaker for most of her life, but she also enjoyed many past times such as reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also loved listening to music. Growing up, our house was always filled with the sounds of music be it classical, jazz, contemporary and movie soundtracks. She loved a competition and would eagerly challenge her children (and later her grandchildren) to a rousing game of ping pong or chess. Marcy was always willing to try her hand at different things and even tried archery (which she was quite good at). An avid fan of golf and football (both college and the pros) Sundays were her day to watch her favorite sports. She also loved to garden, and along with her husband created a beautifully landscaped yard. She had an eye for decorating and the house always looked homey warm and welcoming especially at Christmas time.
Marcy is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband of 66 years Calvin (Bob) Snell, her children Mark Snell and his wife Brenda of Salem, NH, daughter Karen Jessee and her husband Bill of Methuen, granddaughter Ashley Larochelle and her husband Roger of Hudson, NH, grandson William Jessee and great-granddaughter Finley Larochelle of Methuen .
She is also survived by brother-in-law Edward Snell and his wife Florence of North Andover, Massachusetts and a sister-in law Gladys Poirier of Sarasota, Florida, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
