Louise M. Assaf's Obituary
Louise M. (Hatem) Assaf, 94, of North Andover, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Lawrence General Hospital, surrounded by her 3 daughters. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph James Assaf.
Louise was born in Somerset, OH on May 1, 1928, the daughter of the late George and Jennie (Rabil) Hatem. She graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1947. She also attended and graduated from Fazio Beauty School. She worked in several local hair salons before becoming the owner and operator of “Louise, Your Hairstylist” and “Lou-Ann Cut and Curl'' in North Andover, which her husband bought for her. She then worked as an inspector with Western Electric for over 25 years until her retirement in December 1994.
She was a communicant at St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence, where she was a past member of Our Lady of Lebanon Sodality. She enjoyed cooking Lebanese food for her grateful family, friends, and neighbors. She was also known for her amazing baked stuffed lobster. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends and traveling, including, of course, trips to the casino! Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the rest of her family.
Louise was proud of her three daughters whom she raised on her own after her husband passed away at an early age. She was always eager to share their accomplishments with anyone she met. Louise was truly the force behind the entire family.
Sitto will be deeply missed by her 3 daughters, Dr. Annlouise Assaf and her husband, Lynn Alan Potter of North Kingstown, R.I., Darlene Morin and her husband, John of Danville, N.H., and Cheryl Costello and her husband, Jeffrey of North Andover; her brother, Tuffic Hatem of Methuen whom she adored; 7 loving grandchildren, Lyndsay, Courtney, Joseph, James, Christina, Michael, and Regina; 2 beautiful great-grandchildren, Cedric and Ellyse; and several nieces and nephews. Louise was “Sitto“ to all of them. She is predeceased by 5 siblings, Mary Troisi, Regina “Rita” Brown, Rosemarie Hatem, Edward Hatem, and John Hatem.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Louise’s life by gathering for her calling hours, which will be celebrated from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Kenneth H.
