Linda R. Berard's Obituary
Linda R. (Chateauneuf) Berard, 75, of Lawrence, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was the cherished wife of Wilfred “Bill” Berard, her partner in love and life for 53 beautiful years.
Born in Methuen on April 28, 1950, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late William Ernest and Ruth (Towler) Chateauneuf. A proud graduate of Tenney High School, class of 1968, she pursued her passion for caregiving by earning her nursing degree from Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical School, followed by two associate degrees from North Essex Community College. For 34 years, Linda served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lawrence General Hospital, retiring in 2013. Her nurturing spirit shone brightly as she mentored generations of young nurses, guiding them with kindness, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to healing.
Linda’s heart was as vibrant as her life. An avid reader, she found joy in the pages of a good book, losing herself in stories that sparked her imagination. A devoted fan of hockey and the New England Patriots, she cheered passionately, her enthusiasm bringing family and friends together in shared excitement. Above all, Linda was an explorer at heart. She and Bill embarked on countless road trips with Steve and Dana Berard, across the country, delighting in the discovery of new places and proudly checking off each state they visited.
Linda’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; her two sons, Daniel Berard and his wife, Christina, of Newton, NH, and David Berard of Newton, NH; her six cherished nieces and nephews, Christine, Kimberly, Michael and his wife, Denise, Jeremy, Olivia, and Owen Berard; her brother-in-law, Steven Berard and his wife, Dana, of Lawrence; and her cousin, Douglas McCarthy. Linda’s absence will be deeply felt, but her love and light will forever guide those she touched.
Family and friends are warmly invited to honor and celebrate Linda’s life during calling hours from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service and burial will be private, a quiet moment for her closest loved ones to say goodbye.
