Letizia Tesoro's Obituary
Letizia Tesoro, 97, of Ft. Meyers Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Most recently she was a resident at the Preserve at Palm Aire Assisted Living in Pompano Beach, Florida, however, she resided in Fort Meyers for most of her retirement years. Prior to retirement she lived in Salem New Hampshire for 27 years. She was the was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Tesoro to whom she was married for 63 years.
Letizia was born in Lawrence Massachusetts on December 28, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Carmellina Struffolino. She was pre-deceased by her infant child, Anthony Tesoro, and her brothers and sisters; the late Carmen Struffolino, the late Helen Franco, the late Stephen C. Struffolino, and the late Albert Struffolino.
Letizia attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Rivier College with a Bachelor’s Degree. She later earned her Master’s Degree from Lowell State University. She was a dedicated teacher who taught at St. Joseph’s School in New Hampshire as a reading specialist. She was also a teacher in the Lawrence School System. She a talented singer, having been a member of the Holy Rosay Church Choir for 40 years and she was later a member of the Southwest Florida Symphony Choir at St. Columbkille Church in Fort Myers for 17 years.
Letizia was a veteran, having served in the Woman’s Army Corp during the Korean War conflict. She received an Army of Occupation Medal and a National Defense Medal.
Letizia will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, including Angela Sherry of New York, Camille Flynn and her husband Gerald Flynn of North Andover, Stephen C. Struffolino, Jr. of Methuen,Massachusetts, Arlene Barone of Salem, New Hampshire, Marion Merrick and her husband, Ronald Merrick of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Michele Struffolino and her husband, Steven Liquori of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida, and David Struffolino of Lawrence, Massachusetts. She will also be missed by her great nieces and nephews who over the years have enjoyed her enthusiasm for education, playing 45s, and her love of song. She will also be missed by her private-care aide, Sharon Rhoden who ensured that Letizia had a comfortable life in her last years.
Family will hold a short visitation on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Shrine, 34 Common St., Lawrence. Interment and Military Honors will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence following the funeral mass.
