Leonard A. Ramey's Obituary
Leonard A. Ramey, age 95 of Methuen passed away on June 11, 2022. Leonard was born in Lawrence on April 5, 1927 to the late Anthony and Marie Ramey. He attended the Lawrence Public School System and graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1944. Leonard resided in Methuen his entire adult life. He was a proud WWII United States Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Midway and discharged honorably. Leonard was a graduate of both Massachusetts Trades School, earning a certificate as a draftsman, and Lowell Technical Institute with a degree in engineering. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor, General Electric, Gillette and United Shoe Machinery as a draftsman, machine designer, plant engineer and for 26 years he worked at Avco (Textron) as a design engineer/project engineer. He retired from Textron in 1992.
Leonard was a member of the American Lebanese Awareness Association and a lifetime member of the Methuen Knights of Columbus, having served on the Board of Directors for both organizations. He attended and served on the parish council of St. Anthony’s Maronite Church in Lawrence.
Leonard is survived by his wife Evelyn (Saba) Ramey, son David Ramey, daughters; Joanne Miles and her husband Richard and Marie Fleming and her husband Michael, grandchildren; Matthew Ramey, Ramzi Ramey, Andrew Ramey, Elizabeth Ramey, Amanda Miles, Danielle Miles, Eric Fleming, Jacob Fleming, and Lauren Fleming, and great grandchildren; William Ramey, Claire Ramey, Macie Ramey and Ella Fleming. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Leonard is predeceased by his brother Deacon Allan Ramey and his wife Alice, sister Vivian Ramy and her husband Nicola and his daughter-in-law Carol Quinn Ramey.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St. Lawrence. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery of Methuen.
