Leon G. Bourque's Obituary
Leon G. Bourque, 68, of Methuen, passed away peacefully at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on December 23, 1956 in Gardner, MA, to the late Lionel and Jeanette (Mailloux) Bourque.
Leon was raised in Ashburnham, MA and graduated from Oakmont High School, class of 1974. He worked for many years as a lab technician at Lantheus (formerly DuPont) until his retirement. He loved to fish and enjoyed taking his boat out, especially on trips to the lake in Maine with his son, siblings, and close friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and hockey and was an avid Bruins fan. His calm nature, quiet presence, and kind soul will be deeply missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Pamela (McNaught) Bourque; and his brother, Daniel Bourque.
Leon is survived by his children, Justin Bourque and his wife, Cary of Athol and Angela Morse and her husband, Daniel of Rindge, NH; stepchildren, Steve Babineau and his wife, Marlene of Lowell, Sonya Babineau of Lowell, Sara Nohelty of Nashua, NH, and Amanda Nohelty of Haverhill; siblings, Carol Higgins, Philip Bourque, Raymond Bourque, Shaun Bourque, and Jeffrey Bourque; adored 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his cherished significant other of ten years, Maryellen Drew of Methuen, his beloved dog Renee, and many extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. Immediately following calling hours, beginning promptly at 12:00 PM, there will be a funeral service held in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N. Lowell Street, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leon’s honor to the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health via https://johnritterfoundation.org/.
