Leander "Lee" Davis' Obituary
Leander (Lee) Davis, 66, of Lawrence, MA passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2022, at home surrounded by family and close friends after a long fight with cancer.
Lee was born in Ayer, MA, grew up in Townsend and graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School in 1974. He joined the army after high school and attended Cedar School in Gardner where he earned a certificate in Electronics. He later worked for Data General in Southborough, Wang Laboratories in Lowell and MKS in Methuen.
Lee left his career to become a stay-at-home dad and volunteered at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Lawrence while his son Kyle was in school. The most important things in Lee’s life were his family and friends. He was a loyal friend, a confidant, a surrogate father, and counselor to all who knew or needed him even a complete stranger.
Lee loved to travel to the lakes and mountains and spent every 4th of July at the beach where he could “people watch”, enjoy live music and the summer heat. Some of his favorite vacations were spent with his closest friends and family. He loved to take summer family road trips and discover new diners, back roads, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. He had an unnerving habit of climbing rocks to stand at the edge of a cliff. Lee was an avid NE Patriots fan and watched the Boston Red Sox, but only when they played well.
Lee was predeceased by his father, Howard W Davis II, and mother, Ethel Fleck Davis of Townsend, MA. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Cheryl Thornton Davis of Lawrence, MA. His sons, Jerel Davis of Maynard, MA, Jason Davis of Gardner, MA and Kyle Davis of Lawrence, MA. His brothers, Howard (Bill) W. Davis III of Haverhill, MA and Jonathan Davis of Hudson, NH. His sisters Nancy Davis of Townsend, MA, Joanne Glanton and Martha Davis of Elgin, SC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel-St. Augustine’s Parish, 128 Ames St. Lawrence MA.
