Kenneth H. Gammons of Atkinson, NH passed away peacefully January 17, 2022. He was the oldest son of the late Allen and Christina (Mitchell) Gammons. He grew up in Methuen, Massachusetts, graduated from Edward F. Searles High School, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Salem State Teachers College in Salem, Massachusetts and later attended Boston University, where he received his Master’s Degree. After receiving his Bachelor’s, he taught a few years at Northfield High School in Vermont, returned home and spent the remainder of his career teaching business and typing, in addition to serving as Head of the Business Department at the Salem High School in Salem, New Hampshire.
Kenneth enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, keeping in touch with old classmates and colleagues, whether it be a handwritten letter, a phone call, or through retirement dinners and reunions, which he always looked forward to. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed the holidays, where he could spend time with everyone. One of the things he held most dear, was spending summers at his camp at Lake Winnipesaukee. Having been there since 1934, when he was just 4 years old, he was one of the oldest members of the park. There he made many friendships, which became part of his extended family, and also served as the head of the Tree Committee for several years.
He was a wonderful brother, uncle, father-figure and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his younger sister, Linda (Gammons) DeLotto, of Atkinson, NH, niece Deborah Matz, and her husband Richard, of Plaistow, NH, niece Heidi D’Italia of Atkinson, NH and nephew, David DeLotto, and his wife Jamie, of Derry, NH, grandnieces and nephews, Richard Murray, III, Abagayle and Tiffany Matz, Ryan and Lauren D’Italia and Andrew DeLotto, great-grandniece Cadence Murray, and pre-deceased by his younger brother, A.
