Juanita Mejia's Obituary
Juanita Mejia,73, of Methuen passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at High Pointe House in Haverhill surrounded by her beloved family.
Juanita was born on January 29, 1949 in Patillas, Puerto Rico to Rosalia (Ortiz) Montañez
and the late Juan Montañez. Her family eventually moved and settled in Lawrence, MA. She became a homemaker tending to her family’s needs first and foremost. She was dedicated to her family and her loved ones. Juanita enjoyed dancing, playing dominoes, especially winning championships due to her smoothness and tactics, playing pool, cooking for her family, and spending as much time possible with her loved ones. Juanita was known for her potato salad and spaghetti. She was a huge lover of cold cut subs with lays potato and a sprite on the side.
Juanita will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and zest for life.
She was predeceased by her brother, Eddie Montanez.
Juanita is survived by her mother, Rosalia Montañez of Lawrence; two daughters, Michelle Mejia-Rodriguez and her husband, Manuel of Methuen, and Adelyn Mejia and her husband, George Elhamaoui of Methuen; her siblings, Olga Montañez of Lawrence, Minerva Gonzalez and her husband, Nelson of Lawrence, Milagros Santiago of Lawrence, Zulma Montañez of Methuen, Carmen Montañez- Flores and her husband, Miguel of Methuen, Juan Montañez of NH, Jose Montañez and his wife, Cecy of Lawrence, Hector Montañez of Lawrence, Ernesto Montañez and his wife, Elise of Puerto Rico, and Efrain Montañez and his wife, Gloria of Salem, MA. In addition, she leaves behind her adoring four grandchildren, Manuel and Isabell Rodriguez, Alexis Alonzo, and Layla Elhamaoui; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Juanita’s life by gathering for calling hours on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 300 Haverhill Street, Lawrence. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mejia family.
