Joyce Marion Glidden's Obituary
With sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our mother on August 27, 2020, Joyce M. Glidden at age 73. Joyce was born on September 22, 1946 in Lawrence.
Joyce was the daughter of Leslie and Doris (Gilcrest) Kleiner. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School in 1964 and a longtime resident of Methuen. Joyce started her career at Lampros Brothers of Lawrence in 1966 and worked closely with DeMoulas Supermarkets until her transition in 1982 to DeMoulas. Joyce worked for DeMoulas Market Basket Produce Distribution Center as an Accounts Payable Office Manager from March 3, 1982 until her retirement in June of 2018. She was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan and affectionately known as “Grace” due to being so accident-prone. She was a feisty woman and all who knew her couldn’t help but love her.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents; Husband Gerald George Glidden of Glidden Roofing in Methuen; and her Sister Anna DiMauro (Kleiner). Joyce’s memory will live on through her loving family, she is survived by a daughter, Leslie Glidden - Corkum and her favorite son in law Kenneth P of Lawrence, a son, Michael Glidden of Methuen with whom she lived, a Granddaughter, Jenna Hanson of Davenport, Florida and three great-grandchildren Kyleigh, Jake, and Benjamin Hanson of Florida. She is also survived by step-granddaughters Kristen Corkum of Medford, and Nichole Mithoefer (Kurt) of Merrimack NH, and their children Zac and Claire. Niece Cheryl Jarrett (Kevin), Niece Diana DiMauro, Nephew Frank DiMauro (Wendy), God Daughter Courtney Valcourt whom she adored, and several nieces and nephews who love her very much.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home immediately following calling hours, beginning promptly at 12:00 Noon. Interment to follow at Bellevue Cemetery of Lawrence. Due to the current global pandemic, facial coverings are required to attend calling hours, funeral service and interment.
