Joseph Melisi's Obituary
Joseph Melisi, 88, a resident of Methuen, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, surrounded by his devoted family. He was the cherished husband of the late C. Natalie Scire-Melisi.
Born on December 23, 1935, in Hanover, NH, Joe was the son of the late Louis and Catherine (Ruggiero) Melisi. He graduated from Hartford High School in White River Junction, VT, with the class of 1954. Joe proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following his service, he dedicated 26 years as a quality control engineer at Honeywell before retiring. He was an esteemed member of the American Legion, Post 122.
Joe was deeply committed to community service, actively participating in numerous fundraising campaigns for various organizations. He was instrumental in the Methuen Associates, a group dedicated to community enhancement, and outreach efforts. Additionally, Joe was involved with St. Lawrence O’Toole Parish in Lawrence until its closure. In his leisure time, he found joy in bowling, tending his garden, and golfing. He also shared his passion for the card game 45’s with his family and friends alike.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Terri Melisi-Bean and Karen Melisi Ellis, and their spouses, Jean Melisi and Brett Ellis; six grandchildren, Danielle Kiley, Sinéa Kiley-Esposito and her husband, Kevin, Joseph Bean and his wife, Kristina, Robert Bean, Cairnie Pokorney, and Rachel Melisi; four great-grandchildren, Troy Bean, Felicia Woodward, Gavin Esposito, and Callum Esposito. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Joe is predeceased by his daughter, Donna Melisi-Kiley, and his brothers Louis and George Melisi.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Joe’s life during calling hours from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday at St. Michael Parish, 196 Main Street, North Andover, followed by interment at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
