Joseph "Joe" J. Bartolotta Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph “Joe” J. Bartolotta Sr., age 88, a North Andover resident for the past 50 years, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born in Lawrence, MA on February 11, 1934 to the late Salvatore and Nancy Bartolotta of Sicily. Joe was a graduate of Searles High School in Methuen, Class of 1951. While attending Searles High School, he met his treasured wife Pat. After High School, Joe joined the United State’s Army. In the early 1960’s, Joe worked for Wonder Bread. In the late 1960’s, Joe started his own business, Ply-Gems Home Remodeling Center. From there, Joe and his son Joe Jr. went on to create New England Outdoor Sheds and Gazebos, located in Methuen for over 50 years. The company remains family owned and is now operated by Joe Jr. and the next generation of the Bartolotta family. Joe was a true lifelong entrepreneur, had an impeccable work ethic, and was very proud that his family was involved in the business.
While he attended Searles High School, Joe excelled in four sports and was a letterman in football, basketball, baseball, and track. His perfection of the “jump” shot while playing on the basketball team earned Joe induction into the Methuen Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Although Joe wasn’t a boastful man, his family was very proud of his accomplishment.
Joe enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife Pat. When health reasons limited their travel, Joe and Pat spent many winters in their homes in the Naples and Bonita Springs, FL area. Joe also enjoyed all the Boston sports teams, especially his beloved Boston Celtics. Also, he especially loved working on his home, yard & landscaping.
Joe was the beloved husband of the late Mary Patricia “Pat” (Healey) Bartolotta. He was the loving and devoted father of Joseph J. Bartolotta Jr. and his wife Kathleen, Nancy Daniels and her husband Thomas, the late Kevin Bartolotta and his surviving spouse Jodi, and the late Stephen Bartolotta. Joe was the loving brother of the late Vincenza Cuomo, and the late Mary Devine. He was the loving grandfather of Jonathan Bartolotta and his wife Christine, Ryan Bartolotta and his wife Rachelly, Thomas Daniels II, Stephen Daniels, Andrew Daniels, Jared Bartolotta and his wife Mary, and Ali Joyal and her husband Matthew. Joe was the cherished great-grandfather of Valentina, Nina, and Shelby. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and love to Joe and Pat’s longtime caregivers Maria and Grace, who are like family and always took the best care of him.
