Joseph "Paul" Gosselin's Obituary
Joseph “Paul” Gosselin, 68, passed away peacefully in his home in Methuen, Massachusetts on Saturday, July 16, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Paul was born on December 16, 1953 in Lawrence Massachusetts as the first of three children of Maurice and Claire Gosselin. Paul graduated from The Greater Lawrence Technical High School in 1972 where he studied in the electrical shop before going to work for A&M Appliances.
He later went into business for himself as the sole proprietor of Gosselin’s Appliance Repair. For over 40 years in business he fixed (and condemned) residential appliances and made countless friends across the Merrimack Valley, many of whom he joined for afternoon and evening coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts.
Paul was a wonderful husband to Elaine for 43 years, and father of two boys, Matthew and Adam. Paul was known as an avid drag racing fan, pool player, and Corvette enthusiast. After a 16 month battle with leukemia, he enjoyed one final Cruise Night on July 11 with friends, family, and his 1974 Corvette Stingray, which all brought him great joy.
Paul is survived by his wife Elaine, sons Adam and Matthew and his wife Brooke, granddaughter Audrey, his mother Claire, and his sisters Nancy Cassidy and Donna Hunt and husband Jim. He is also survived by sister-in-law Jean Barrile and husband Alan Blanchard, his brothers-in-law Joseph Barrile and Leo Barrile and wife Toni, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a wake at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Thursday, July 21 from 4:00 to 7:00pm and a funeral Mass at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Friday, July 22 at 11:00am. Guests are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In place of flowers, Paul’s family requests donations be made in his memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Joseph “Paul” Gosselin to support cancer research and patient care at: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift. The Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gosselin family.
