Jose S DaRosa's Obituary
Jose S. DaRosa, 75, longtime resident of Methuen, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 27, 2021, surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on May 23, 1945 in Faial, Azores, Portugal. After immigrating to the United States, Jose worked as a plumber for Mitchell Plumbing and Heating for nearly fifty years. As the beloved patriarch of his family, he enjoyed the many simple pleasures of life; he enjoyed watching soccer, tending his grape vines and spending time with his grandchildren. Jose was a devout Catholic who touched many peoples in many different circles. He will fondly be loved, cherished and missed by all.
Jose is survived by his dear wife, Maria (DaSilva) DaRosa, with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage together, and together for a total of 56 years. He was the dear father to his son Joe DaRosa and his wife Sandra of Haverhill and the proud grandfather to his four grandchildren; Austin DaRosa, Jake DaRosa, Julia Robinson and her husband Raymond of Hinesville, Georgia, and Isabelle DaRosa. Jose is also survived by his brother Manuel Fernando DaRosa and his sister Maria Olivia Silveira, both of Portugal, his sister-in-law Maria Gabriel DaRosa of Maryland, his brother-in-law Manuel DaSilva of Westford, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by beloved God daughter Noemia DaRosa. Jose was preceded in death by his parents Jose Santos Rosa and Maria Zulmira DaRosa, his brother Eduino DaRosa and his sister Maria Lucinda DaRosa.
Visitation for Jose will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 4 – 8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 12 PM at Saint Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 110 North Lowell Street, Methuen. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, face masks will be required at the funeral home, church, cemetery and social distancing must be followed. If you have a health or other underlying concern, please do not attend. Jose’s family will understand and respect your decision. The Kenneth H.
