Retired Firefighter John R. “PJ” Morin, 68, of Methuen, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against lung cancer on March 6, 2020 at the High Pointe House in Haverhill with his wife and children by his side. Born in Lawrence, MA on November 1, 1951 to the late Arthur F. and Phyllis (Gately) Morin, he was raised and educated in Methuen, graduating from Tenney High School with the Class Of 1970. PJ was the patriarch of his family and enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures; travelling, watching his Boston sports teams, grilling by the pool, and catching up with friends. He loved spending time with his family, his two grandsons Anthony and Jonathan who always brought a smile to his face, and was known to spoil his dogs Gus and Gilda and his grand dogs Taco and Slider. PJ enjoyed golf, bowling and in his youth he loved playing baseball. He coached Babe Ruth baseball and was later joined on the fire department by several of his former players.
PJ is survived by his loving wife, Debra J. (Lucier) Morin with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He was the beloved father to his two children; his son, Jeffrey J. Morin & his wife Nicole, and his daughter, Jennifer M. Tarquinio and her husband Stephen, all of Methuen. PJ was the proud grandfather to Anthony and Jonathan Tarquinio.
