Joan F. Heafey's Obituary
Joan “Joni” F Heafey passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026, with her children Susan and Patrick by her side.
Joan was born in Lowell, MA on September 9, 1934, to Lyman H and Josephine (McKiernan) Kilton. Raised and educated in North Andover, MA, Joan graduated from Johnson High School in 1952.
Joan worked for many years in Accounts Receivable at Schneider Electric until her retirement in 2000. It was there she met her lifelong friend, Judy Stella, of Salisbury, MA.
After her retirement, Joan enjoyed volunteer work with several organizations. Her favorites being the North Andover Festival Committee, North Andover VFW, North Andover Lions Club and working the voting polls on election days in town.
Joan was the widow of John J Heafey, who passed away in 1996 after 39 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her sons, James “Mike” Heafey (2002) and John David Heafey (1961).
Along with her children, Joan is survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Joshua Roche, wife, Kaitlyn, and their children, Conor and Nora Roche of Simsbury, CT, James “Matt” Roche of North Andover, Elizabeth Heafey and her daughter, Naimah Wilson of Wilmot, NH, Joseph Murphy and his wife, Rae and their son, Jasper “Buzz” murphy of Minneapolis, MN, Brian Murphy of State College, PA, Jamie Roche of North Andover and her significant other, Michael Morey and Sam Murphy and his wife, Emily of State College, PA.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Tuesday April 21 at 12:15 PM at Ridgewood Cemetery, 177 Salem Street, North Andover, with a celebration of life immediately after at the VFW Post 2104 32 Park St North Andover, MA. Guests are kindly asked to meet directly at the cemetery. At the request of the family, there are no calling hours.
