Joan B. Coppola's Obituary
Joan B. (Savastano) Coppola, age 86, of Methuen, MA passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Nevins Nursing and Rehab Center in Methuen surrounded by her loved ones. Born September 1, 1934 in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary (Allen) Savastano. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry Savastano and sister, Rita Bastinelli.
Joan was a homemaker, lover of food, and the beach. There wasn’t a sale she couldn’t find or a craft she wouldn’t attempt. She was a strong presence and had firm beliefs and would be remiss if she did not “tell you why”. Most recently she could be found on Facebook reminding her family that “Nanas watching” and sharing all the “gorgeous babies” in her family. In Joan’s eyes the goal wasn’t to live forever, but to leave behind something that will.
She was the wife of the late Rosario “Russell” Coppola and leaves behind a legacy to be carried on by her children, Dr. Joyce Coppola and her wife, Barbara Packard of Pawtucket, RI; Russell Coppola and his wife, Kathleen (Milone) of Methuen; Dale (Coppola) Chasse and her husband, Jean of Pawtucket, RI; Susan Coppola of Haverhill; Kevin Coppola of Methuen; Brian Coppola of Methuen; Patricia (Coppola) Zahn and her fiancé, John Wolak of Brentwood, NH; Mariah Coppola and her fiancé, Matthew Halliday of Manchester, NH; Haley Coppola of Speedway, IN; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, which were her pride and joy as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her twin children, David Coppola and Diane (Coppola) Dunn.
Friends and family are invited to share memories on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday July 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen. Interment to follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan’s name to Nevins Nursing and Rehab Center, 10 Ingalls Ct, Methuen, MA 01844.
