Joan Marie Blazevich's Obituary
Joan Marie Blazevich, 79 of Lawrence, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at home.
Joan was born in Lawrence on December 11, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Cecelia (Budrevich) Blazewicz. She graduated from St. Rita Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence. She received her bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College in Brockton, MA and received her master’s degree from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. After high school, Joan entered the religious order of The Sisters of Jesus Crucified for more than 35 years. She served several communities in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts as a teacher and a director of religious education. She was then employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 7 years until her retirement in 2013. Joan was a member of the South Boston Lithuanian Citizens’ Association. She also supported many Catholic organizations and loved music and taking photos.
Joan will be deeply missed by her 3 siblings, Dorothy Paskevich of Lawrence, Mary Gobush and her husband, William, of North Dartmouth, MA, and Joseph J. Blazevich and his wife, Beth, of Old Saybrook, CT, a niece, nephews, and many friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother-in-law, James Paskevich, and 2 nephews, Joseph P. Blazevich and William J. Gobush, Jr.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Joan’s life by gathering for her calling hours from 9 – 10 AM on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
