Jeannette M. Dowd (nee Charest)'s Obituary
Jeannette M. (Charest) Dowd, 94, of Methuen, passed away on December 1, 2017 surrounded by her family at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Jeannette was born on June 15, 1923 to her hardworking parents Alcide and Leone Charest in Methuen. Raised and educated in Methuen, she worked for several years at the Converse Shoe Company in Andover. Jeannette who was the beloved matriarch of her family loved the many simple things in life. She enjoyed playing 45’s, camping in the White Mountains and spending time in the great outdoors. A devout lifelong Catholic, Jeanette’s greatest pride and joy was her loving family. She touched many lives in many different circles and she will fondly be loved, cherished and missed.
Jeannette is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph E. Dowd Sr, with whom she celebrated over seventy years of marriage. She is also the beloved mother to her four children; her son, Joseph Dowd Jr, of Methuen, her son, Thomas Dowd of Arizona, her daughter Linda Ford and her husband Robert of Melrose, FL, and her daughter, Gail Arsenault and her husband Daniel of Salem, NH. Jeannette is the proud grandmother and great-grandmother to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is the cherished sister to her brother, Fred Charest, of Andover, MA. Jeannette is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six siblings.
Visitation for Jeannette will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N. Lowell St, Methuen.
