James "Jim" Hermans' Obituary
James “Jim” Hermans passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. He was born on February 18, 1931 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the son of Aime and Bridget (Sheridan) Hermans and brother of Joseph Hermans. He attended Central Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. Jim worked as a lineman for New England Electric System and business manager for Union Local 326 before joining the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in Boston where he retired after twenty five years. While a federal mediator Jim worked to bring management and unions together in contract negotiations. He served as president of the Board of Directors at Community Action Council, Inc. and was member of the Hamlet Health Club at the Lawrence YMCA. He enjoyed running and Saratoga Racing events with his friends, was a member of the Bavarian Club in good standing and loved playing cards.
He is survived by his longtime companion Marilyn Found, children Catherine McGurren and her husband Thomas, Mary Beth, James, Ellen, and Susan Hermans, grandchildren Sean Cairns and Carly Rose Bueno, and his wife Rosemary.
Family and friends may call on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 9:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen. Interment to follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Lawrence.
