James G. Dawe's Obituary
James G. Dawe, 65, of Methuen, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2026.
Born in Methuen on November 28, 1960, James was the son of the late George A. Dawe and Pauline (Pelletier) Dawe. He graduated from Greater Lawrence Regional Technical High School with the Class of 1978.
In 1996, James met Kathleen Ellis, the love of his life. They were married in 2000 and welcomed their son, Christopher, in 2001. James was also the proud father of Stephanie, Stephen, and Samantha.
For the past 24 years, James worked as a school bus driver for Trombly Motor Coach. He also enjoyed working for Boston Duck Tours and Methuen Community Studios. Throughout his life, James was deeply committed to serving his community. He devoted 44 years to Methuen East Little League, including 15 years as president. His leadership, generosity, and tireless volunteer spirit touched countless lives, and he was known for giving freely of his time and talents to help others.
James was predeceased by his parents, George A. Dawe and Pauline (Pelletier) Dawe; his brother, Thomas G. Dawe; and his beloved daughter, Samantha (Dawe) Mack.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Kathleen (Ellis) Dawe; his daughter, Stephanie of Haverhill; his son, Stephen, and his wife, Melanie, of Georgia; his son, Christopher, of Methuen; and his cherished grandson, Joseph Porter, of Lawrence. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathryn Dawe and her spouse, Donna Andersen, and Kristine McAloon and her husband, Andrew, of Methuen; his sister-in-law, Catherine Dawe, of Kent, Ohio; as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.
James will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, and his unwavering dedication to his family and the Methuen community. Whether behind the wheel of a school bus, volunteering countless hours on the Little League fields, or lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, he made a lasting difference in the lives of so many. His legacy of service, friendship, and love will continue to live on in the family he cherished and the community he faithfully served.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Jim’s life by gathering for his calling hours on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 2 – 6 PM at Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel / St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth St, Methuen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
