Harriet Alice Previte's Obituary
Lawrence - Harriet Alice (Kaatz) Previte, age 85, formerly of Methuen, MA and Cape Neddick, ME, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15 at Mary Immaculate Nursing/Restorative Center in Lawrence, following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Harriet was born in Brooklyn, NY, on December 8, 1937, to Evelyn (O'Brien) Kaatz and Harry R. Kaatz. Harriet was raised and educated in Methuen, MA. She graduated from Searles High School and worked at the Jackson Beauty Salon in Lawrence until her marriage.
First and foremost, Harriet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who truly enjoyed her family's company. She enjoyed cooking favorite meals, caring for her home and tending to her beautiful gardens. Harriet's other great passion was spending time on the coast of Maine at her beloved summer cottage. There was no place where she was happier; it was there where she also shared an abundance of special moments and cherished friendships with all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Harriet was predeceased by her beloved husband, Atty. Albert S. Previte, Jr., with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage; her devoted son, Albert S. Previte, III; and her dear sisters, Dorothea (Kaatz) Brox and Evelyn (Kaatz) Tomkiewicz. Harriet leaves behind her brother William Kaatz and his wife Lucille of Port Charlotte, FL; son James Case of Dansville, NY, and his wife Dawn; daughter Sarah (Previte) Hamilton, and her husband, Rick of Methuen, MA; daughter Martha Previte and her partner, James Earl of Kennebunk, ME; daughter-in-law Lisa Previte of Kittery, ME; grandchildren Amanda, Samantha, William, Caroline and Aidan; and great-grandchildren Jackson, Henry and Charlotte. In addition, she also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
Harriet's family is most thankful for the loving care she received from the Mary Immaculate Nursing/Restorative Center staff during her stay at the facility.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are respectfully invited to a Mass of Christian burial at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street in North Andover, MA, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
