Gloria J. Vellette's Obituary
Gloria J. (Scaletti) Vellette, age 95 of Methuen passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021. Gloria was born in Lawrence to the late Carmen and Cecelia Scaletti on September 18, 1925. She was a former communicant of Corpus Christi/Holy Rosary Parish. She was also a member of the Rainbow Club of Methuen. Gloria enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading, ballroom dancing and trips to Foxwoods with her late husband Alexander. She also enjoyed saying the Rosary and Devine Mercy daily and spending time with her grandchildren.
Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Alexander T. Vellette Sr. She was the devoted mother of Alexander T. Vellette Jr., Diane Messer and her husband Frank III, and Brenda Tisbert and her late husband Alan. She was the dear sister of Minnie Gabriel, Ida Hale, the late Nellie DeFillipo, and the late Lena Saad. Gloria was the loving grandmother of Alexander S., Samantha, Renee, Lisa, Frank IV, Michelle, and Alan Jr. She was the cherished great-grandmother of 16 and loving great-great grandmother of 2. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff and caretakers at Prescott House of North Andover for all their care and devotion shown to Gloria while she resided there.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours, beginning promptly at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Due to the ongoing global pandemic, facial coverings must be worn and social distancing must be observed to attend calling hours and the funeral service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in Gloria’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105.
