Gloria A. Guilmette's Obituary
Gloria A. (Koren) Guilmette, 92, of Lawrence, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, September 03, 2021 at High Pointe House in Haverhill. She spent the last 6 years at Marguerite House in Lawrence, which she enjoyed very much. She will be remembered fondly by the residents and staff there.
Born on March 4, 1929 to the late Julius and Fedora Koren, she was raised in NH and moved to Lawrence at the age of fourteen. She lived at the Protectory of Mary until her marriage to Robert Guilmette. She was a devoted mother tending to her family’s needs first and foremost. She was a kind and caring person who always thought of others before herself.
Gloria was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Augustine’s Chapel as a choir member and many other activities at the church. Later, she was an active member of The Rainbow Club of St. Theresa’s Parish where she enjoyed line dancing, playing cards, and traveling. She also enjoyed bowling and playing Bingo. She was a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren and rarely missed any of her grandchildren’s activities.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-three years, Robert J. Guilmette; and two sisters, Jean Gagnon and Alice Wholley.
Gloria is survived by her children, Stephen R. Guilmette of Bedford, NH, David P. Guilmette and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Methuen and her son, Shane Sylvester, Mark J. Guilmette and his wife, Susan of Barton, VT, and Robert J. Guilmette and his wife, Laura of Devens; one daughter, Julie Jones, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Salem, NH; grandchildren, David P. Guilmette, Jr. and his fiancé, Elizabeth, her son Noah, Emily, Lindsay, and Kelsie Jones, and Natalie Guilmette; and soon to arrive great-grandchild. In addition, she also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
