Gloria Gines' Obituary
Gloria (Nieves) Gines, 89 of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was the beloved wife of the late Ruben Gines, Sr.
Gloria was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on April 19, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Nicomedes Nieves and Rosa M. Reyes. Her passion for education led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Puerto Rico. Gloria dedicated thirty-three years of her life to teaching in Puerto Rico before continuing her impactful career in the Massachusetts school system for an additional twelve years, until her retirement. Her commitment to education left a lasting mark on countless students.
Gloria’s creative spirit shone through her love of writing and poetry. She took great joy in composing and reciting poems, with an unpublished collection reflecting her deep thoughts and feelings. Her generosity extended beyond the classroom, as she was known for her selfless acts of kindness and contributions to various charities. Gloria had an incredible ability to uplift those around her, always putting others’ needs before her own.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her three children, Rosa Muñoz, Glorimel Gines, and Ruben Gines, Jr.; four grandchildren, Nelson Medina, Glorilmarie Feliciano, Mirakel Mayoral-Goodwin, and Raul Feliciano, Jr; two great grandsons, Isaac Medina and Marquiis Medina; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Wanda Gines.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Gloria’s life by gathering for her calling hours from 4 – 8 PM on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
