Gladys "Dolly" Ann Oldfield's Obituary
Gladys “Dolly” Ann Oldfield, 84 of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 with her family by her side.
Born in Methuen on January 27, 1935, Dolly was the daughter of Leo Pelletier and Gladys (Pelletier) Stegowski. She graduated from Tenney High School, class of 1954, which was their first graduating class. Dolly was a single mother of five children at the age of 32. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was kind, caring, loved among friends and family, and immediately liked by all those that met her. She also worked in retail for over 40 years. She retired from Canobie Lake Park but also worked at Child World and Bradley’s just to name a few. She was a communicant at St. Monica’s Church and St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid, Florida. She was also a snowbird in Florida and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren as well as painting, crocheting, scrimshaw jewelry making, and being near the water with her brother, Matthew. She was also a published poet.
Dolly will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Leeann Dunaway and her husband, James of Salem, NH; four sons, Ben Oldfield II of Hampton, NH, Robert Oldfield of Raymond, NH, Bryan Oldfield of Methuen, and Steven Oldfield of Lake Placid, FL; nine grandchildren, Richard, Brad, James, Ashley, Ryan, Kaitlin, Crystal, Ashley and Richard; and fourteen great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother, Matthew Pelletier.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Dolly’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 9-10:30 am at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM on Monday at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
