Geraldine "Gerry" Bourassa's Obituary
Geraldine (Sheehan) Bourassa, 95 died peacefully on October 4, 2022 at her home in Methuen, surrounded by her loving family. Gerry was born in Lawrence, MA, on August 22, 1927 to the late Mary “Mae” (Byrne) Sheehan and Dr. John Sheehan.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; She was known for her kindness and gentle personality, always having a good word to say about others.
In her early years, she worked as the lunch coordinator for the Oakland Av. School in Methuen. The school children loved her as she treated every one of them as a special individual. They all knew her by name.
Gerry was predeceased by the love of her life, Denis “Denny” Bourassa. They met at the end of World War II, when Denny came home from the war. They were married for sixty years before his passing in 2009. Gerry and Denny enjoyed traveling together, with her sister, Frances, especially when they travelled to Ireland to meet relatives. In addition, she was predeceased by her brother, Jack Sheehan; and one grandchild, William “Billy” Dryden.
She is survived by her ninety-four year old sister, Frances (Sheehan) Markey of Carlsbad, CA. Gerry is also survived by her four children, her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Gloria Bourassa, and three daughters and sons-in-laws, Christine and William Dryden of Windham, NH, Kathleen Bartlett and Kenneth Covey of Methuen, and Maureen and John Connors of Long Island, NY. She is survived by several other loving and adoring grandchildren, Tina Dougan, Jennifer Bourassa, Michelle Dryden, Alexandra Connors, Jack Connors, and Riley Connors; and 4 great-grandchildren, Noah Quick, Annalise Quick, Alicia Beland and Brandon Beland. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Bourassa family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude for all the care provided by the Beacon hospice nurses as well as the wonderful care provided by Maria Herrera of AgeSpan.
Relatives and guest are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 5:00-9:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 10: 30 AM at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
