Genevieve S. (Platek) Zambino's Obituary
Genevieve S. (Platek) Zambino, 93, of Methuen, passed away on September 24, 2018 surrounded by her devoted family at the Mary Immaculate Nursing & Restorative Care Center in Lawrence. Born on November 6, 1924 to the late John and Sophie (Bujak) Platek in Lawrence, she graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1942. A former communicant of St. Francis in Dracut, Genevieve was a devout lifelong Catholic. She worked for many years in the family business as the office manager for Zambino Sand & Gravel. Genevieve, who was very well travelled, loved the many simple pleasures in life from yard sales, shopping and going to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. She touched many lives in many different circles and will fondly be loved, cherished, and missed by all.
Genevieve is survived by her beloved husband, Rocco Zambino of Methuen, with whom she celebrated 58 years of marriage. She and her husband were married in a simple ceremony on February 27, 1960. Genevieve is also survived by her sister-in-law, Madelyn Platek and was the cherished aunt to Cheryl Platek, Joanne Melillo, Louis and his wife Linda Zambino, Christine and her husband Robert Mitchell, all of Methuen and many other nieces and nephews. Genevieve was predeceased by her siblings; Adele Moll, Stella Sapronis, Theresa Fox and Joseph Platek and her her in-laws Louis & Olga Zambino.
Visitation for Genevieve will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4 – 7 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Monica’s Church, 231 Lawrence St, Methuen. Interment to follow at Bellevue Cemetery, 170 May St, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Genevieve’s memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
