Gail J. Romel's Obituary
Gail J. Romel, age 72, suddenly passed away in her Lawrence home early Monday morning, January 3, 2022.
Gail was born in Methuen, MA on December 29, 1949. She attended Lawrence High School and worked at Cardinal Shoe Factory in Lawrence, MA before marrying her husband, Joseph J. Romel, on January 6, 1968, celebrating 54 years of marriage this year.
Gail was a devoted mother and grandmother to all of those in her life. She brought a great amount of energy to any room she walked into, and undoubtedly lifted your spirit within seconds. She enjoyed spending time with family, walking the beach for shells, betting against the odds at the casino, and watching the Pats play every Sunday. Gail also had a strong passion for collecting. Whether it was the Wizard of Oz, new jewelry, or holiday decor, she always loved adding new additions to her collections.
Although her name was Gail, she was more well-known by her infamous nickname, Iz. Everyone who knew her quickly picked it up, and she will forever be remembered by it. Gail will be greatly missed by all of those who crossed her path.
Gail is survived by her husband, Joseph J. Romel; her two sons, Joseph J. Romel, Jr. and Michael S. Romel; her daughter, Lisa J. Monahan and her husband, James C. Monahan; her four grandchildren, Curtis, Justin, Julia, and Sophia; and her beloved dogs, SweetPea and Diamond.
At the request of the family, all services will be private. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen is honored to serve the Romel family.
