Flora Ellen Manning's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Flora Ellen Manning
Flora Ellen Manning, a cherished resident of Lawrence, MA, peacefully left this world on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Nevins Nursing & Rehab Centre in Methuen. Born on November 6, 1945, she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Mildred (Pendergast) Manning.
Flora's journey was marked by a commitment to education. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts/ Lowell and many teaching certificates. She dedicated herself to shaping young minds as a history teacher in the Lawrence school district for over forty years, leaving an indelible impact on generations of students until her well-deserved retirement.
A woman of faith, Flora was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in North Andover, where her compassionate spirit shone through her involvement in various church activities since November of 1989. Beyond the classroom and church, Flora's creativity knew no bounds. She expressed her artistic soul as a painter, showcasing her creations at local craft fairs, leaving admirers captivated by her talent.
Flora's love extended to the animal kingdom, with a special fondness for her cherished cat, Henry. In her selfless devotion, she took on the responsibility of caring for her mother after the passing of her father, embodying the true essence of family bonds.
Left to mourn her passing is her sister-in-law, and a host of first cousins who will forever hold her in their hearts.
In accordance with Flora's wishes, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory can make memorial contributions in her name to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Manning family during this difficult time. Flora's legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
