Filomena "Phyllis" Hutton's Obituary
Filomena “Phyllis” Hutton, 97 of Methuen, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was the beloved wife of the late Lt. William F. Hutton.
Phyllis was born in Lawrence on April 9, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Ernesto and Caterina (Torretti) Martelli. She graduated from the Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical School, after completing her LPN program. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Clover Hill Hospital in Lawrence until her retirement. Phyllis and her husband also previously ran the Merrimack Park Drive-In in Methuen. She volunteered at BINGO at the Methuen Senior Center. She also volunteered at the Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence and looked forward to her weekly Wednesday visits with all of her friends, especially Mike. She enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods and spending time at Salisbury Beach. She was very social and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her son, William E. Hutton and his wife, Paula, of Howland, ME; her three grandchildren, Kelley Hutton and her husband, Garo Hagopian of Methuen, Tracey Hutton of Allenstown, NH, and Katie Lee and her husband, Michael of Pelham, NH; three great grandchildren, Bridgette, Kevin and Jacoby Lee; her brother, Raymond Martelli of Haverhill; her daughter-in-law, Susan Hutton, wife of the late Arthur Hutton, of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her son, Arthur, she is also predeceased by her grandson, William F. Hutton, and two brothers, Arthur and Nicholas Martelli.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Phyllis’s life by gathering for her calling hours from 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
