Evelyn D. Lacroix's Obituary
Evelyn, or Evie as known to her friends, passed away on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 after several hospitalizations. She was the eldest daughter of Eugene J. Dubois and Antoinette (Lasonde) Dubois. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene and Louis, and her stepmother, Lillian. She leaves behind her sister, Antoinette Vigneault of Dunwoody, Georgia.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she attended Saint Anne’s school graduating valedictorian in 1956. She was passionate about civil participation and served her community of Methuen for many years. She was elected as a Town Councilor from 1977 to 1987. She also served on the Conservation Commission, the Town Charter Commission, and as a member and President of the League of Women’s Voters. In her later years, she was active in the Methuen Senior Center, Friends of the Nevins Library, and the Nevins Library Book Club.
She worked at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover and Boston working her way up from a seasonal employee to being manager of the regional call-in center in Boston. She also served on national process improvement teams for the IRS. When she retired, she pursued a second career in real estate.
Evie was the beloved wife of Robert R Lacroix for almost 60 years until he passed in 2017. She leaves behind sisters-in–laws, Claire Lacroix of Naples, Florida, Pauline Lacroix of Berwick, Maine, and Doris Thibodeau of Methuen, Massachusetts.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Igoe of Walpole, Massachusetts, and Sandra Lacroix of Henrico, Virginia and two sons, Dan Lacroix of The Woodlands, Texas and Gary Lacroix of Littleton, Massachusetts. Her family grew to include 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who brought her much pride.
Calling hours will be at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St. Methuen from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 24, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at St Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen at 11:00 AM. Internment is at Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen. In lieu of flowers in Evelyn’s memory, the family asks for a donation to be made at your favorite charity or the American Heart Association. She will be missed.
