Evelyn Chabot's Obituary
Evelyn Chabot, 89, passed away on February 11, 2018 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. She had been a resident of the Lakeview House Nursing Home for the past five years where she was lovingly cared for. Evelyn was born to the late Joseph and Yvonne (Bourgeois) Chabot in Lawrence, MA on March 4, 1928. A lifelong devout Catholic, Evelyn completed her final vows as a religious Sister and joined the Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec. Throughout her 25 years of service, she was able to support the community by helping the poor and teaching in schools in Biddeford and Van Buren, Maine and in Tennessee. Evelyn returned to Lawrence in 1972 where she spent 20+ years teaching 7th grade Science at the Donald P. Timony School in Methuen. Additionally, she supported her local parish as a CCD teacher at Saint Ann’s Church in Lawrence. Evelyn was a special woman and made a lasting impression on all of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her undying faith, kindness and humble ways inspired many. She will be truly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her dear friend of many years, Linda Callagy of Hampton, NH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her life-long friend, Irene Hodkinson, her sister, Rita and by her brothers Henry, Raymond, Richard and Ronald.
Friends and family are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated in her honor on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 9 AM at Saint Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. Interment to follow at Saint Mary Immaculate Cemetery, 29 Barker St, Lawrence, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, High Point House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
