Eulogia "Lily" Castro's Obituary
Eulogia “Lily” (Fuentes Gomez) Castro, 89, of Methuen passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 11, 1933 in Las Villas, Cuba to the late Arcenio and Heriberta Fuentes Gomez.
Lily was raised in Cuba before emigrating to the United States and eventually settling in Lawrence. She worked at Malden Mills as a machine operator for over 26 years before retiring. Lily and her husband, Rogelio raised five children. She always tended to her family’s needs first and foremost. She was dedicated to her family and her loved ones. Lily also enjoyed watching television, cooking, scratching lottery tickets, and mostly spending as much time possible with her loved ones, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rogelio Castro; and six siblings.
Lily is survived by her adored children, Aldo C. Castro and his wife, Wendy of Bradford, Basilia I. Cavallaro and her husband, Joseph of Dracut, Miriam S. Herrera of Saugus, Romeo Castro of North Andover, and Roger Castro and his wife, Maureen of Plaistow, NH; brother, Juan Fuentes Gomez of Cuba. In addition, she leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one niece.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 4:00 until 8:00 Pm at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen. Interment to follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lily’s memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Castro Family.
