Eugenie M. "Genie" Fontaine's Obituary
Eugenie “Genie” M. Fontaine, 78, of North Grafton, MA, passed away on February 24, 2025, following a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of the late Maria M. (Campanale) Fontaine Lostimolo, Wilfred J. Fontaine, and Joseph Lostimolo.
Genie was born on June 15, 1946, in Worcester, MA. As a result of complications with her delivery, Genie was rendered disabled. For seven years, she grew up alongside her sisters with their mother, who worked so hard to care for all three of them. As Genie grew older, she was part of various rehabilitation programs and group living to support her needs. Genie lived a life full of joy, wonder, and curiosity. She took great pleasure in traveling, going to the beach, and painting. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family – be it on the many trips they took to Worcester, or the many trips she took to Lawrence and Methuen. Genie was an avid fashionista, taking great pride in her style and accessories. She was also always eager to share in the joy of appreciating the style of others, especially their jewelry. Genie also thoroughly enjoyed working and the time she spent at her day programs where she enjoyed the company of her many friends. The only thing she enjoyed more than her family, clothes, and accessories, was her Coca-Cola.
Genie shined her light wherever she went. Smiles were always in abundance where she was in attendance. Her family takes great comfort in the time they spent with her in the days preceding her passing.
Genie will be deeply missed by her sisters, Denise M. Currier and her husband, David of Lawrence, MA, and Karen M. Jean of Methuen, MA; her guardian and niece, Stacy Andrade and her husband, Mario, of Lawrence; as well as several cousins, nieces, grand-nieces, a nephew, and grand-nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her step-brother, Phillip Lostimolo; her brother-in-law, James Jean; and several aunts and uncles.
A private burial service will be held with immediate family to celebrate Genie’s life and honor her memory. Genie’s family is forever grateful for the care she received from her caretakers, in particular, Cindy, Dawn, and Jen, who all diligently cared for her for many years, but especially during her battle with cancer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Eugenie M. Fontaine's name.
