Ernest F. Griffiths III

Ernest F. Griffiths III “Ernie” of Methuen, MA died surrounded by family on Sunday, June 13, 2021 after a year-long illness at the age of 73. Ernie was born May 18, 1948 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Ernest and Marion Griffiths. He graduated from Cathedral High School and Boston University. After years of working in the banking industry, he returned to school to obtain his LPN license, his bachelor’s degree and a master’s in in nursing with a Nurse Practitioner focus. He worked for many years as a nurse consultant in different settings. Reading cookbooks was a favorite pastime. Ernie loved to cook and enjoyed trying different ethnic recipes that he learned from family and friends. He was happiest preparing meals at many a celebration surrounded by people at the table. He also spent time gardening, collecting antiques, the arts, traveling to many locations, and spending time at Salisbury Beach and in Maine. He often could be found relaxing with his many favorite canine friends through the years, including his current companions, Zues and Jasmine. Ernie leaves behind his wife, Ann of 43 years, his closest family members Dyan, Anne Marie, Pat, Buster, Sandra, Donna, and Karen and their families. His close in-law family included Louise and Ernest, Paul and Carrie, Michael and Jan, David and Michelé, Stephen, Jean and Julian, Joseph and Melissa, and Andrew and Kristina as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor and celebrate Ernie’s life by gathering for his calling hours on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Paul Parish, 29 Mt. Auburn Street in Cambridge. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
