Elizabeth "Betty" Purcell's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Purcell, age 93 of Methuen and formerly of Lawrence passed away at her late residence on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Betty was born in Lawrence on April 21, 1924 to the late Henry and Nellie (Fogarty) Fallon. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School of Lawrence, Class of 1943. Betty was a tax assessor and tax collector for the City of Lawrence for 30 years. She was a former communicant of St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen, a former officer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knight of Columbus and a member of the Holy Family Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty is survived by her sister in-law Jeanette Fallon of West Newton. She is predeceased by her late husband John P. Purcell, a son John M. Purcell, brother Henry B. Fallon, and sisters Theresa Fallon and Helen Vicedomine.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Lawrence.
