Elaine Marie Gaudet's Obituary
Elaine Marie Gaudet, 71 of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Born in Lawrence, MA on March 29, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel C. (Buote) Gaudet.
Elaine was educated at the Sacred Heart and Oliver Schools in Lawrence, MA. She attended GLARC sheltered workshop at Burke Hospital and CLASS of Lawrence in her younger years. She was a longtime client of the former Nevins Adult Daycare in Methuen, and most recently attended Spectrum Adult Day Health Center in North Andover.
Elaine loved to laugh - her belly laugh could be heard across any room. Whether singing patriotic songs and show tunes at family parties or going out to eat at her favorite restaurant (Grassfields), she had fun and made friends wherever she went. For a number of years, Elaine attended monthly social events at the former Creative Living House, where she and her friends would dance, play games, and eat dinner. She attended a monthly special needs Mass for the Creative Living group and their families. An avid bowler for many years, she enjoyed bowling with friends through Fidelity House, and also took part in the Special Field Games of the Merrimack Valley. She loved to make things for others, from a latch hook Christmas stocking to a crocheted blanket made with her mother. Over the years, she developed a love of Disney, from movies and songs to the many characters, especially Cinderella. Anyone who knew Elaine, knew she often enjoyed her “cuppa tea” while coloring or doing her puzzle books, with a deck of cards by her side. Elaine had a pure joy for life and a smile that left an imprint on the hearts of all around her.
Elaine was the beloved sister of Marie (Gaudet) Bliven and husband Peter of Methuen, MA, Debra (Gaudet) Duxbury of Methuen, MA, and Robert Gaudet of Lincoln, MA; beloved aunt of Keri-Lyn (Gaudet) Rubino and husband Jason, Jaime-Lyn Gaudet and husband Dan Chen, Nicholas Gaudet, Lori Duxbury, Melissa (Duxbury) Rosenberger and husband David, and Paul Gaudet; and great aunt to Finn Rubino and Samantha Elaine Rosenberger. She was predeceased by brother, R. Joseph Gaudet. Elaine will also be missed by many cousins and friends.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Elaine’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 2 – 6 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover.
The family would like to thank her nurse, Kayla, and the hospice team at CareDimensions of Danvers for the supportive care given to Elaine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elaine’s name to Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress, 20 Burlington Mall Road, Suite 261, Burlington, MA 01803 or www.mdsc.org. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gaudet family.
