Eileen Marie Dubois' Obituary
Eileen Marie (Locke) Dubois passed away peacefully on December, 26, 2022. Eileen was born on July 31, 1931 to loving parents, Arthur and Nellie (Sullivan) of Andover, Massachusetts. She is survived by her younger sister, Elizabeth McIntyre; children, Stephen (& wife Abbie), Timothy (& wife Susan), Kathryn (& husband Edward Doerr), Christopher and Mark. Eileen was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, Gerard.
Tickled to be called Gramma, Grandmother Eileen and Nana, Eileen was respected and adored by her grandchildren Paul, Felicita, Sandralee, Rowan and Carstens and by her great grandchildren Taylor, Harper and DJ. The blessing of a large family awarded Eileen the title of Auntie to over 70 nieces and nephews.
Eileen’s education began in Andover, MA in the parochial community. Upon graduating from Macintosh business school, Eileen enjoyed working with numbers and was employed by Andover Bank.
She fell in love with “too short” Gerard Dubois of Methuen and the couple married in 1954. Welcoming their first son in 1959, they created a home as the two raised and added to their family with #5 tagging along in 1970.
Eileen returned to work at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, a career that she enjoyed very much and excelled at.
Eileen & Jerry showered pride on every generation and branch of their family. Milestones were celebrated together and the family leaned on one another through difficult times. The couple celebrated 54 years of marriage.
A widow upon her retirement in 2007, she enjoyed lunching and playing Phase10 with her “sisters” and day-tripping with her close circle of friends, or “ladies” as they were often referred.
An insatiable reader, Eileen found joy in get-togethers, get-aways with and surprise visits from family also known as “the kids.” A slot-machine junkie, she enjoyed local casinos and usually left with a little more than she brought. Eileen traveled to Florida, Ireland, Los Angeles, CA, New Orleans, LA, Washington, DC and Hawaii as well as to many of the local attractions in the New England area.
Gradually clouded by dementia, Eileen’s final years were spent finding joy in new and often unexpected ways. Her creative side emerged as she enjoyed coloring, a pop of color on her fingernails and trying out different hairstyles. Dear friends, Denise, Jimmy and Mindy added love, care, companionship and shenanigans.
Surrounded by family and so many of God’s creatures and His beauty all around, Eileen took her last breath knowing she was loved by all who met her.
May Eileen rest in eternal comfort and peace
