Eileen C. (Cunningham) Gilbert's Obituary
Eileen C. (Cunningham) Gilbert, 69, of Methuen, passed away on April 30, 2019, after a brief illness at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Methuen on February 12, 1950 to the late Edwin and Margaret (Casey) Cunningham, she attended Tenney High School and graduated with the Class of 1967. She attended Castle Junior College in Windham, NH. Eileen worked as an MRI technician at North Shore Magnetic Imaging Center until her retirement.
A devout Catholic, she was a communicant of Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen. In her free time, she enjoyed decorating and gardening. Eileen’s favorite place is the beach. Her biggest accomplishment, however, was raising her family. She was especially devoted to her family, including her grandchildren. A selfless and devoted woman, Eileen touched many lives in many different circles and will fondly be loved, cherished and missed by all.
Eileen will be deeply missed by her 3 sons, Joseph J. Gilbert of Methuen, Brian C. Gilbert and his wife, Jennifer of Dighton, MA, and John R. Gilbert and his wife, Nina of Windham, NH; 7 grandchildren, Grace, Craig, Kristen, Joseph, Lulu, Thomas, and Matthew; 2 sisters, Sheila Cunningham of Methuen and Barbara Fleming and her husband, Brian of Wells, ME; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Thomas Cunningham.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Eileen’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 11 AM at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
