Dorothy O'Connell's Obituary
Dorothy (Butterworth) O’Connell, 92 of Methuen passed away peacefully at Lawrence General Hospital on October 11, 2017.
Born in Lawrence, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Fred and Dorothy (Monahan) Butterworth. Dorothy grew up in Lawrence and married the love of her life in 1945. They were married for 34 years and raised six children together before his death in 1979.
She loved her trips to Foxwoods but what she loved most was spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard and his wife Susan of Franklin, NH, Gail and her husband Thomas Fournier of Derry, NH, Susan and her husband Jerry Gendron of Salem, NH, and Dawn and her husband Joseph Aleci of Methuen, MA. She was also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and her brother and sister-in-law William and Justine Butterworth of Salem, NH.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Francis X. O’Connell, her son John O’Connell, and her daughter Judy O’Connell. As well as her brother Fred Butterworth, and her sisters Claire Carney, Arlene Leas, and Muriel Wallack.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen, MA. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM followed by a burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
