Doris M. Walsh's Obituary
DRACUT, MA – Doris M. Walsh of Dracut, Mass, age 93, beloved wife of the late Leo E. Walsh, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Edmund and Mary (DesRoches) Thibodeau of Prince Edward Island, Canada.
Born and raised in South Lawrence she attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lawrence High School and worked first as a mender in the local mills on materials for WWII military uniforms and then at Converse and as a homemaker.
Doris loved reading, blueberries & double cream and tracing her ancestors back to Canada and France. She loved all kinds of music from Big Band to Country and wrote a song at 13 for neighbor and singer Irene Daye called The Weekend Blues; but her favorite song was Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Doris loved to travel to many countries in Europe and across Canada as much as a ride to Wells Beach, ME for a lobster roll and going to Little Island Pond for a boat ride; but her favorite trip was to Hawaii for her 80th birthday.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Walsh, an infant son Joseph, as well as her parents and three siblings: Rita, Edward and Thelma.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Walsh of Dracut; her sister-in-law Patricia Perry of Methuen; nephews William Perry and Neil Perry of Methuen; Bruce (Susan) MacDougall of Methuen; Brian (Eileen) MacDougall of Wilmington; Kevin (Kris) Lekarcyk of Derry, NH; and nieces Joyce Lekarcyk of Plymouth, MA and Sandra Gorgizian of Warwick, RI. She is also survived by 15 grand nieces and nephews and 14 great-grand nieces and nephews.
Doris’ winks, smiles, hugs & kisses will be missed forever.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday, February 12 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13 at Saint Monica Church in Methuen. Burial will follow St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. Donations in Doris’ memory may be made to Cor Unum, 191 Salem Street, Lawrence, MA.
