Dolores M. Chasse's Obituary
Dolores M. (Allain) Chasse, also known as ‘Dolly’ to her family and friends, age 99 of Methuen and formerly of Falmouth and Melrose passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on April 2, 2022 at Kaplan Family Hospice House. She was born in Lawrence on August 26, 1922 to the late Thomas J. and Marie Philomine (Bernard) Allain. She spent many years living on Prince Edward Island, Canada and spoke fluent French. She was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Parish of Melrose, St. Anthony’s Parish of Falmouth and St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen. Her faith in God was an important part of Dolores’ life which was instilled in her at a very young age by her dear mother. She was an accomplished seamstress, making one of a kind prom dresses for her daughters and outfits for all of her children and grandchildren over the years. She was a wonderful homemaker, often baking homemade bread and French Canadian dishes for her 7 children and beloved spouse. Dolores worked at DSS in Boston, and in the Assessor’s office at City Hall in Melrose until her retirement. She always spoke highly of her family and loved them all.
Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Ralph G. Chasse, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of the late Denis Chasse (wife Katheryn), Sheryl Chasse Aldag (late husband Henry), Alan Chasse (wife Laurie), Paul Chasse (wife Cindy), Dr. Janice King (husband Paul), Betty Ann Singleton-Stall (husband Brian), and Ralph Chasse Jr. Dolores was the dear sister of Doris Plantamura (late husband Frank), Thomas Allain (wife Bernie), Donald Allain (wife Diane), and the late Charles Allain (late wife Helen), the late Bernard Allain (wife Frances), the late Joseph “Roger” Allain (wife Gail), and the late Marie Smith (late husband James). She was the cherished grandmother of 16 and the loving great-grandmother of 10. Dolores is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
