Dennis Joseph Mahoney Jr.'s Obituary
Dennis J. Mahoney Jr., 100, of Methuen, passed away on Thursday, April 6, at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Muriel Claire (Dreisel) Mahoney.
Dennis was born on February 22, 1923, the son of the late Dennis J. and Josephine (Perry) Mahoney. During WWII and the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the US Navy. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1958. The next year he was certified as a registered professional engineer. He worked at Mass Electric as a district superintendent for many years until his retirement. Dennis was a member of the Lawrence Exchange Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed building model ships and his electric trains.
Dennis will be deeply missed by his 3 children, Suzanne C. Mahoney of Haverhill, Richard D. Mahoney of Methuen and James K. Mahoney and his wife Leeann of Newburyport, his granddaughter Emily and her husband Greg of Salem, his great granddaughter Lilly, his brother John Mahoney and his wife Margaret of Methuen and Margaret Mahoney (William) of Lawrence and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four siblings, Doris Mahoney, Eileen Fay, William Mahoney and James Mahoney.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Dennis’s life by gathering for his graveside service at 10 AM on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street, Methuen.
